These past few months the Ottawa 67’s and our Prospects have been sharing some of their best goal celebrations from this past season. Since there was so much interest in creative goal celebrations we turned it into a contest/challenge from the 67’s themselves. Back in January we challenged all of our minor hockey players in the Prospects program to send us their best goal celebrations via email or Tweet for a chance to have some of the 67’s themselves come out to one of their practices. After countless submissions from various MHAs here in Ottawa we narrowed down our top 3 submissions and ultimately crowned a winner on February 10th.
Our goal celebration video challenge winner was the Leitrim Hawks B4 Novice team that showed us that a goal celebration does not have to be just one player. The video submission came from a minor hockey tournament where the Leitrim Hawks Novice B team went undefeated in 6 games where their final game went 9 periods long! In the 9th period of play the game came down to just a 1 v 1 showdown for the championship which the Hawks won in dramatic fashion. The player who scored the goal did a full lap with his teammates celebrating the Hawks tournament game winning goal.
Once the team had found out that they won the Prospects goal celebration challenge our very own Seva Losev and Carter Robertson paid the Hawks a visit at their practice on March 7th. After the practice was over the boys invited the Letrim Hawks to their game versus the Steelheads on March 11 where the team participated in the High Five Alley Prospects experience. Congratulations to the Leitrim Hawks Novice B team for being crowned this year’s Prospects Goal Celebration Champions!
